Logan Ryan Band

The wait is finally over; we are here at the end-of-year one spotlight. It’s been a wild, fun, stressful, and educational ride. Looking back, a year ago I didn’t think we’d be where we are today, and I never thought within the first year I’d be interviewing who I am today. In early December of 2024, I stumbled across a band from Texas and quickly fell in love with their sound and style, and started a deep dive. Then one day they blew up; they had a song all across TikTok. I thought, hell yeah, good for them. I’d met the band already, and they were some of the nicest, coolest people I’d met at the time, and I was happy to see them getting the recognition they deserved. So, today we’re going to go behind the music and find out just who the lead man is. Because really, who is Logan from the Logan Ryan Band?

Logan Ryan Skloss. Who is he? Logan is the front man and lead singer for the Logan Ryan Band. He’s from Leesville, Texas, and currently resides in New Braunfels, TX.

When did Logan first start playing music, and what drew him to it? Well, Logan said, “I started playing guitar at around 9 years old, and writing songs at 11. My father (Leroy), who was a musician and a karaoke DJ, and my mom (Mistie) would take me and my sister (Kasie) to his shows, and we kinda grew up in the honky tonks singing karaoke, around San Antone. Later in life, my stepdad (David) was involved with the Luling Watermelon Thump, overheard me singing a song I wrote, and he stuck me on an acoustic set, and they all pretty much had to make me do it; I was so nervous. That’s how and when it all started.

How would Logan describe his sound to someone who’s never heard the band’s music? He said, “I would say a cross of Turnpike Troubadours and Cross Canadian Ragweed”

Now who inspired Logan to start making music? He said, “My love for music and those around me involved in music.” But who are some artists that have influenced him the most? Well, Logan said, “I would say Charlie Robison was a big influence. Watching him at Gruene Hall is a core
memory of mine and screaming Loving County with some buddies on a backroad drunk in high school.” I’ll say Logan singing El Cerrito Place by Charlie when he opened for Carson Jeffery up in Stillwater, and me singing along with my buddy and girlfriend, is a core memory for me.

What’s been Logan’s favorite show or venue to play so far? he said, “Gruene Hall.” So, what about his dream venue to play at? Logan said it’s “Red Rocks amphitheater or Cain’s Ballroom is on our bucket list”

What has been a major turning point in Logan’s career so far? He said, “Parker McCollum shouting us out was awesome! Just when I was ready to give up, and that brought me back. Opened doors to new opportunities.” So, what’s something about Logan and the band that people might not expect? He said, “We love to hang out after a show”

What does Logan hope people feel or take away when they hear his music? He said, “I just hope I can help someone going through a hard time, or make their day a little brighter.” Now what does success look like for him in music? Logan said, I think we are getting there, get to pay our bills doing it, and sell a couple tickets all over the US.”
